The concert will feature beautiful works, soon to be classics in the string quartet repertoire by Chevalier St. George Joseph de Bologne, and Florence Price. In addition, two world premieres are featured, "A Prayer for Love" by Mark Lomax, and "The Clarity of Hope" by Ching-chu Hu will round out this unique program.
JUXTA 2022 is Black Odes: A Reclamation Suite featuring the world premiere of new musical compositions by Dr. Mark Lomax II & Scott Woods performed by The Urban Art Ensemble. The event features poetry by Scott Woods and visual art by Richard Duarte Brown.

Through, “In Search of A City (2021), composer, recording artist, drummer, activist, and educator Dr. Mark Lomax, II; saxophonist Edwin Bayard; bassist Dean Hulett; and poet Scott Woods embark on a live journey mixing jazz and poetry to uncover what a city could be.
This performance is part of the New Music at Short North Stage concert series underwritten by the Johnstone Fund for New Music.
